Our traditional methods allow us to produce a product that has been internationally recognized for its richness in character and individuality. Tanning Procedure CANDOR follow traditional methods of manufacture and tanning, that reflect a care for the craftsman, craftsmanship and the environment, using processes which have long since disappeared from the modern leather industry. Our leather is full grain cowhide, vegetable tanned and hand dyed. The different absorption properties of each hide allow for a natural variation of colour. Quality The art of tanning CANDOR leather is by the time honoured traditional method of soaking the hides for forty days in extracts of bark and seeds collected from renewable sources in the forests of India. Only after these vegetable extracts have been fully absorbed are vegetable oils applied to make the hide supple. Each hide is hand rubbed with aniline dyes, leaving the grain visible, enhancing the strength and beauty gained from the vegetable tanning process and giving our product a strong natural look, as subtle and pleasing as stained oak. Only solid brass buckles are used, each individually sand cast and hand polished reflecting old saddler traditions.
